Laura Anderson has broken her silence in the wake of her split from Paul Knops, revealing the couple struggled after leaving the Love Island villa.

Anderson and Knops met on this summer’s series of the ITV2 hit, but refused to label themselves as ‘official’.

Anderson has now revealed they spent nearly a month apart on returning home and failed to make a relationship work when they were reunited.

“When we came out of the villa there was a lot of work related things we did together and then Paul went away for three weeks,” she told OK!

“He went to the Burning Man festival in America and he couldn’t get phone signal for a week. I was absolutely fine with that. I trusted him not to do things with other girls, which he didn’t.

“I was hoping that when he came back we’d spend more time together and build a proper relationship out of the villa. It didn’t happen.”

Anderson confirmed she has unfollowed Knops on social media as she doesn’t want the “torment” of seeing what he is up to.

“I don’t really want to see what he’s up to now because I’m not involved in that,” she said. “If he needs me he’d call me but I don’t want to watch his stories. You have a little look now and again and it torments you!"

The couple were hit with multiple split rumours after leaving Love Island with fans concerned it was over after they were pictured rowing outside The Cuckoo Club in Mayfair, London, during the early hours before leaving in separate cars.

Anderson and Knops are the latest duo from this year’s series to split after Samira Mighty and Frankie Bridge called it quits weeks before Jack Fowler and Laura Crane announced they have parted ways.
