Kristen Stewart has admitted to feeling so debilitated by fame that it sometimes feels like losing a limb.

The A-lister, who is currently in Cannes promoting new film Personal Shopper, thinks that being in the limelight is a ‘surreal’ experience.

Speaking at the press conference on Tuesday afternoon, the 26-year-old compared her life to that of the PA that she plays in Olivier Assayas’s new film.

“[You] feel so incapable of going to the store. Well, technically you can, but it proves to be logistically not worth it,” she said.

“It was fun to play somebody who was so capable. Sometimes I do feel a little bit like I have my limbs cut off.”

The actress added: “That’s not to say that [fame] is a bad feeling, but it is surreal.”

While Stewart has been lauded for her performance in the surreal film, about a fashion PA who has a connection with the afterlife, it received boos during its first screening on Monday evening.

Clearly undeterred by the initial reaction, Stewart told assembled press: “Movies have a life of their own.

“What’s exciting about Cannes is that yesterday no one had seen this film and today it’s in front of the whole world. It’s a very instant, very powerful moment. It’s like giving birth.

“It’s like giving birth. People have expectations about what it will be. You expect anything at Cannes. You just go with the flow”.

Stewart has also been promoting Woody Allen’s new film Cafe Society at this year’s festival.
