Charlie Hunnam takes on Jude Law in the brand new trailer for Guy Ritchie’s forthcoming King Arthur: Legend of the Sword.

The Sons of Anarchy star leads the cast as King Arthur in Ritchie’s action-packed take on the legend, alongside Law, Eric Bana, Katie McGrath and Annabelle Wallis.

In typical Ritchie style, the brand new trailer gives a taste of the dramatic, brutal action, complete with sword fights, chase scenes and an explosion or two.

Warner Bros has also released an official synopsis to accompany the trailer, which reads: “When the child Arthur’s father is murdered, Vortigern (Jude Law), Arthur’s uncle, seizes the crown.

“Robbed of his birthright and with no idea who he truly is, Arthur comes up the hard way in the back alleys of the city.

“But once he pulls the sword from the stone, his life is turned upside down and he is forced to acknowledge his true legacy…whether he likes it or not.”

Ritchie’s good friend David Beckham, who has a small role in the film, recently described the experience as nerve-wracking.

“I had a lot of make-up on. I could hear people saying, ‘It looks like him, but it’s not him,’” he told The Times.

“It was nerve-racking delivering the lines, but it actually went really well. I enjoyed it massively.”

Other cast includes Astrid Bergès-Frisbey as The Mage, Aidan Gillen as Goosefat Bill, Djimon Hounsou as Sir Bedivere and Hermione Corfield as Syren.

King Arthur: Legend of the Sword is set for release on May 12.
