Kim Porter, the former girlfriend of rap mogul P Diddy, has died aged 47.

Authorities responded to a death investigation at 11:40am on Thursday in Toluca Lake, California, where a female was declared dead at the scene.

A representative for Diddy - real name Sean Combs - said: "Sadly, I can confirm the passing of Kim Porter. I ask that you give the families privacy at this time."

The actress and model leaves behind four children, three of whom were fathered by Diddy.

Tributes have been pouring in for Porter, with celebrities including Drake, Missy Elliott and Rihanna sharing their memories and condolences.

In an Instagram post, Rihanna wrote: "This is heavy. heartbroken about this man. we lost a real one today, beautiful inside and out."

In a tweet, he wrote: "For the last three days I've been trying to wake up out of this nightmare. But I haven't. I don't know what I'm going to do without you baby. I miss you so much. Today I'm going to pay tribute to you, I'm going to try and find the words to explain our unexplainable relationship."

He added: "We were more than best friends, we were more than soulmates. WE WERE SOME OTHER S**T!! And I miss you so much. Super Black Love."

The pair have had a turbulent relationship ever since they first started dating in 1994.

They welcomed their first son together, Christian Casey Combs, in 1998 but split soon afterwards.

In 1999, Combs famously began dating Jennifer Lopez but they ended things in 2001 amid reports of Diddy's rumoured infidelity.

Porter and Combs later reconciled and welcomed twins D'Lila and Jessie in 2006.

Things weren't to last, though, and Porter dramatically split with Diddy again in 2007 after she found out he had fathered a child with another woman, Sarah Chapman, and that that child was born before the twins.

Talking about their final split, Porter told Essence in 2009: "I wanted to be dramatic. I wanted him to know I wasn't breaking up with him for two weeks or maybe leaving for two days. If I pack up everything - twins and all - it means I'm out! Puffy's an action person, not a talk person. So I had to have an action. Telling him, 'Babe, I'm leaving' was not gonna do it."

Despite being separated, the pair remained close and often holidayed and spent Christmas together.

"We're still friends," she said at the time. "I'm the person he can tell his inner most thoughts to and he's that person for me. He still calls me every day and we still talk."

In 2017, Porter shared a photo of herself with her twin daughters, Combs and his ex Chapman and their daughter Chance with the caption: "Now we HERE #BlendedFamily #cantstopwontstop."

Combs is also father to 24-year-old Justin with ex-girlfriend Misa Hylton-Brim.

Who is her son, Quincy Brown?

Quincy Brown is the 27-year-old son of Kim Porter and RnB artist Al B. Sure!

He's named after his famous godfather, Quincy Jones and Diddy has been a hands-on father figure to him since he was three years old.

Already forging a career for himself, Brown is best known for his starring role in Brotherly Love and his single, Friends First.

What TV programmes has Kim Porter been in?

Porter had small roles in shows such as Law & Order, Wicked Wicked Games and VH1's Single Ladies.
