Kanye West has reportedly been told that he needs more time to recover in hospital, despite the fact that he was due to leave on Monday.

The rapper, who was admitted to the UCLA Medical Centre with exhaustion and sleep deprivation last week, is receiving continued treatment.

According to reports, Kim Kardashian has been told that her husband will need to stay at the facility although he had planned to head home at the beginning of the week.

“The doctors said he’s in no shape to leave yet,” a source told magazine US Weekly.

“The doctors just don’t think he is ready. He still needs more time.”

The insider added that the UCLA medical team are “taking it one day at a time” with their treatment of the rapper.

Kardashian has reportedly remained at West’s bedside all week, missing Thanksgiving with the rest of her family.

“Kim has been amazing. She knew he couldn't keep going the way he was,” an insider told TMZ.

“She has been by his side through all of this, helping to feed him and laying by his side.”

The rapper sparked concerned when he dropped the mic and cut short his concert in Sacramento last Saturday, following a meandering political rant.

After voicing his support for president-elect Donald Trump, West then lashed out at fellow musicians Jay Z and Beyonce.

Just one day later he announced that he would be cancelling all remaining dates on his Saint Pablo tour.
