'Coincidence? I think not!' John Legend says Sadiq Khan named new dog Luna after his daughter

Sadiq Khan named his new dog Luna after John Legend's daughter, according to a quip posted on the singer's Instagram.

The pop star joked that the Mayor of London had suspiciously gave his pooch the same name after meeting his 18-month-old child just weeks earlier.

The mayor met Legend backstage in September after one of his gigs at the London O2 arena, marking the occasion with a picture.

Mr Khan revealed the adorable picture of himself and the new addition to his family online on Sunday.

Alongside the image posted on Twitter, he wrote: "Saadiya and I are very excited to announce a new addition to the family... ...meet Luna Khan!"

But the singer-songwriter was quick to respond with a picture on Instagram of the himself, the mayor and his daughter, captioned: "1. Mayor Khan meets Luna in September.

"2 Mayor Khan names his adorable new dog Luna. Coincidence?"

Commenting on the post, one fan joked: “"Coincidence? I think not!"

And another said: "What a cheek - naming his puppy after your beauty of a daughter... I would have to pull him up on it!"
