Actor Jeff Goldblum has become a father for the first time at the age of 62 after wife Emilie Livingston gave birth this week.

The A-lister announced the arrival of the couple's first son by posting a photo of the family on Facebook on Tuesday, revealing that Livingston had given birth on the Fourth of July.

Posing with his 32-year-old wife and their new arrival, Goldblum captioned the photo: "We're so excited to share the wonderful news of the birth of our son, Charlie Ocean Goldblum, born on the 4th of July. Independence Day."

The actor is currently working on Independence Day: Resurgence, the sequel to his 1996 blockbuster, which is slated for release in 2016.

Goldblum announced that he was about to become a father for the first time on The Letterman Show last year, clearly over-the-moon that his new wife was expecting.

He told the audience: "She's pregnant. She's three months pregnant. She told me the day before we got married that she's pregnant. It's a boy."

The Fly star tied the knot with Livingston, who is an Olympic gymnast and contortionist, back in November last year in a ceremony at the Chateau Marmont in Los Angeles.

Goldblum was previously married to actress Patricia Gaul from 1980 to 1986 before wedding co-star Geena Davis, who he stayed with until 1990.
