Jason Gardiner has taken a swipe at Gemma Collins, suggesting she is not “physically able” to perform as well as her Dancing on Ice competitors.

The pair were embroiled in a furious on-air spat after Collins accused the Australian judge of “selling stories” about her, prompting Gardiner to brand her a “brat”.

Reigniting their spat on Jeremy Vine, he said he is annoyed at how the drama is overshadowing other contestants on the show.

“We’ve got an amazing line up this year and have people who are so good on the show, and it seems to be all we ever talk about is one particular contestant, who really isn’t that good on the show as a competitor and what she’s physically able to do on the ice,” he said.

“We’ve got Melody, Wes, quite a few who are starting to breakaway and commit, and they’re brilliant...”

Gardiner described Collins’ outburst as “surreal” and inappropriate for a family show.

“I have a bad day at the office and it’s in front of millions of people,” he said.

“It was an outrageous allegation. It was ridiculous it was even brought up on a family show like that.”

Collins hit out at Gardiner in the wake of an interview he gave, in which he branded her “lazy” and “mediocre”. Following her Movie Week routine he criticised the lack of “elegance” and claimed she needed to “up the anti because we’re not going to see any big lifts from you we’re not going to get any impressive moves”.

Collins fired back: “Can I just say one thing? Maybe if you didn’t sell stories on me, maybe I wouldn’t have been so upset this week. So take that. Boring. Next. Don’t sell stories on me. Please don’t sell stories on me.”

Dancing on Ice fans were left divided, with 50 complaints made to Ofcom relating to Collins’ comments, while 33 were made about Gardiner's remarks to Collins.

Collins last week face planted the floor during her routine, with Gardiner later suggesting it was “karma” after liking a string of negative tweets about her.
