Jamie Oliver has offered to provide free food and drink to those who were caught up in the terrifying fire at West London’s Grenfell Tower.

The TV chef, 43, reached out to the hundreds of families who have been left homeless by the devastating blaze and promised to ‘feed and water’ them at the Westfield branch of his Jamie’s Italian restaurant.

In a heartfelt Instagram post he wrote: “To any of the 100's of FAMILIES affected by this terrible fire at Grenfell Tower Notting hill today, you are all welcome to come hang out in my restaurant and be fed and watered by my Jamie’s Italian team.

“We are in the Westfield just around the corner. Food and drink free of charge so just go and speak to my manager Juan and we will sort you out and give you some love.”

He finished: “This is for victims of the fire our thoughts, love and prayers are with you all big love Jamie x x x x.”

Forty fire engines with 200 officers were called shortly before 1am as flames engulfed the block from the second floor upwards.

Residents were trapped “screaming for their lives” and there were unconfirmed reports on social media of people using bedsheets as makeshift ropes.

One resident reportedly threw their child out of a window to safety.

More than 50 patients have been taken to five different hospitals, with the Met Police confirming there have also been six fatalities.

Lily Allen said she would provide a ‘bed and a tea’ while Love Actually script writer Emma Freud offered “a roof”.

The Grand Tour’s Jeremy Clarkson encouraged the “people of Kensington” to donate clothes to those who have been left homeless by the terrifying inferno.

He tweeted: “People of Kensington. Remember to give what you can spare - clothes etc - to those made homeless by that terrible fire.”
