Jamie Foxx has denied being in a relationship with singer Sela Vave.

The actor, 51, was photographed holding hands with Vave, 21, while leaving a club in west Hollywood last week.

Foxx is believed to have been dating actress Katie Holmes, 40, for the last six years but they are now reportedly broken up. Neither have confirmed they were together.

After rumours circulated of Vave moving into Foxx’s home, he addressed the claims in an Instagram live story, stating she did live with him – but on a strictly professional basis.

Foxx, who famously has a recording studio in house which has played host to musicians including Kanye West, said any accusations of a relationship between him and Vave are "scandal chasing”.

He told his followers: “When I met Ed Sheeran, I didn’t know him from Adam. He slept on my couch for six weeks — he ended up going on to do great things.

“But here was the thing, there is a young lady by the name of Sela Vave. I did the same thing with her.”

Referencing the images of the pair together, he said he was “escorting her to his car” and there was a “double standard” when it came to women.

“I’m escorting her to my car, to put her in the car — my artist, who hangs out with my kids and is as young as my daughter.

“People try to make mountains out of molehills. We want to treat her the same way and give her the same opportunities.

“It’s a double standard when it comes to women. When it was the guys, everything is cool but when it was the women they try to make it something else but we are going to try to protect our own,” he added.

Vave also addressed the rumours, stating she had been called a "home wrecker" and "gold digger".

She wrote on her Instagram page: "For the people who care... here is the TRUE story... for everyone else you can keep talking and calling me a…home wrecker, gold digger…that I should die, and what ever else you want, because it doesn’t matter to me, I’m out here to work and do what I love most.”

Foxx, who won the best actor Academy Award for his portrayal of soul singer Ray Charles in 2004 biopic Ray, has a daughter Corinne Foxx, 25, with Connie Kline. He also shares daughter Anelise Bishop, 10, with Kristin Grannis.

He and Dawson's Creek star Holmes, 40, were reportedly in a six-year relationship, though neither ever confirmed they were together.
