Idris Elba appeared to confirm that he is back with his ex, Naiyana Garth, after the pair walked the red carpet together at the BAFTA TV Awards.

Elba, 43, posed alongside Garth as they worked the cameras outside London's Royal Festival Hall.

Their appearance comes months after they allegedly split, with Elba reported to have moved out of their family home.

A source at the time told The Sun: "It’s very sad that this has happened while Idris is experiencing the highest points of his professional career and they can’t celebrate it with each other.”

But an onlooker at last nights event said the couple - who have son Winston together - looked to have rekindled their relationship.

Speaking to the Daily Mirror they said: "They both looked into each other, and Idris was looking out for Naiyana making sure she was okay while he did interviews on the red carpet.”

The Luther actor was at Sunday night's event to present the Female Performance in a Comedy gong to Michaela Coel for Chewing Gum.

On taking to the stage he jokingly assured the audience that his husky voice was not a result of drinking alcohol.

"I've lost my voice so bear with me," he said. "I'm not drunk I promise."

Elba was nominated for the Leading Actor award for his role as DCI John Luther in Luther but lost out to Wolf Hall's Mark Rylance.

Other winners on the night included Suranne Jones, who took home the Leading Actress gong for her role in Doctor Foster, and Peter Kay who twice took to the stage to pick up the awards for Scripted Comedy and Male Performance in a Comedy for Car Share.
