The estranged wife of disgraced movie producer Harvey Weinstein today revealed she was never suspicious of her husband's behaviour as she broke her silence over the sex allegations surrounding him.

British fashion designer Georgina Chapman, 42, made the comments in an interview for Vogue where she spoke for the first time in full since scores of sexual misconduct claims were levelled at her husband.

Ms Chapman, who has two children with the shamed film mogul, left him after a string of allegations were made against him in the New York Times and New Yorker magazine.

They are currently going through divorce proceedings.

Ms Chapman, co-founder of fashion label Marchesa, said: "There was a part of me that was terribly naive - clearly, so naive.

"I have moments of rage, I have moments of confusion, I have moments of disbelief!

"I have moments when I just cry for my children. What are their lives going to be? What are people going to say to them?"

"It's like, they love their dad. They love him. I just can't bear it for them!"

Asked if she was ever suspicious about Weinstein's behavior, Chapman said: "Absolutely not. Never".

She added that he frequently traveled for work and she had never obsessed about where he was.

"I lost ten pounds in five days. I couldn't keep food down," she said.

"My head was spinning. And it was difficult because the first article was about a time long before I'd ever met him, so there was a minute where I couldn't make an informed decision.

"And then the stories expanded and I realized that this wasn't an isolated incident. And I knew that I needed to step away and take the kids out of here."

Some 80 women, including prominent actresses, have accused Mr Weinstein of miscoduct ranging from rape to harassment.

When asked if she was ever suspicious of her husband, Ms Chapman told Vogue: "Absolutely not. ever. And i've never been one of those people who obsesses about where someone is.

"That's what makes it so incredibly painful: I had what I thought was a very happy marriage. I loved my life."

Weinstein has been accused of sexual misconduct by over 80 women but continues to deny all allegations of non-consensual sex.

Scarlett Johanson was pictured at this year's Met Gala wearing Ms Chapman's fashion label. The fashion designer co-founded Marchesa with Kere Craig in 2004.

Ms Johansson told People magazine: “I wore Marchesa because their clothes make women feel confident and beautiful and it is my pleasure to support a brand created by two incredibly talented and important female designers.”

Marchesa cacncelled their runway show for their 2018 fall collection as Ms Chapman thought it would be inappropriate to offer gowns for the awards season.

She told Vogue: “All the women who have been hurt deserve dignity and respect, so I want to give it the time it deserves. It’s a time for mourning, really."
