TV presenter Loyd Grossman has sold his three bedroom house near Chelsea FC's Stamford Bridge ground for an estimated £900,000. But he and wife Debbie and their two daughters aren't deserting Fulham. "We're moving to the new Fulham Island development," Grossman tells me. "But it won't be ready for a while yet." The canny presenter of Through The Keyhole and Masterchef has bought two adjoining two-bedroom properties in this Fulham Broadway complex for about £460,000 each, through FPDSavills. Only a handful of three-bedroom penthouses remain, at prices from £850,000 to £1.3 million.

Heiress Julia Stephenson is hoping to rent a one bedroom flat overlooking the Thames at Chelsea Harbour. She has £450 a week to spend. "I'm having a loft conversion done on my flat near Sloane Square and so won't be able to live there while my builders are working," says the granddaughter of beef baron Sir Derek Vestey. "Alas, no estate agent seems to have anything suitable in the area." Stephenson stood as a Green candidate at the last general election.

Iqbal Wahhab, owner of the award-winning Indian restaurant the Cinnamon Club, can now walk to work. He has bought a two-bedroom sixth-floor flat in County Hall, the former GLC headquarters, for £325,000. "It's just a 12-minute stroll across the river to my restaurant behind Westminster Abbey," says Wahhab, who has just sold his two-bedroom flat off Fulham Road for £220,000. The new flat, in a recent development of the old GLC car park, benefits from 24-hour porterage, underground parking, a swimming pool and gym. "My new home was about £100,000 cheaper than similar ones for sale in Westminster," he says.
