Glastonbury Festival organiser Emily Eavis has revealed more details of the planned David Bowie tribute, saying fans can expect something “personal”.

Eavis revealed organisers have been in talks with several members of Bowie’s band to pay tribute to the singer who died in January following a battle with cancer.

Speaking to 6Music Breakfast she said: “We’re doing several tributes to David Bowie.

“We’re in the middle of [planning] it at the moment. We’re speaking to several members of his band who played here with him in 2000 and everybody’s got lots of ideas.

“We’re trying to do something that is in keeping with him and us and his history here.

“So it’s not going to be a massive all-star tribute, but it’s going to be something really personal and something that will mean a lot to people here.”

After refusing to disclose the names of musicians who have been contacted she continued: “It will be something lovely. We’re also hoping to show some of his set across some of the screens on site, before the festival begins. So that will be on either Wednesday or Thursday, before the music starts.”

Eavis also addressed rumours of a collaboration between Barry Gibb and Coldplay insisting she is not aware of a Bee Gees medley.

“I’m not sure if that is hot air tabloid rumour or if that’s going to be real,” she said. “I don’t think any of the headliners are bringing guests. But there are lot of surprises across the site.”

The first wave of acts were announced this week with names including Ellie Goulding, Skepta, ZZ Top, Madness, Wolf Alice and New Order.

Glastonbury 2016 will take place at Worthy Farm over the weeked of June 22-26.
