George and Amal Clooney are planning to help 3000 Syrian refugees get a formal education in Lebanon.

The A-list couple have said that they will aim to help thousands of children go to school this year, after the UN revealed that 200,000 children are not receiving an education since fleeing Syria.

The Clooney Foundation has joined forced with Google and HP Inc to help support Unicef and the Lebanese ministry of education with their new campaign.

A $3.25 million donation from all three parties will go towards the opening of seven “second shift” schools.

The money will help with transportation, school supplies, computers, curriculum and teacher training.

“We don't want to lose an entire generation because they had the bad luck of being born in the wrong place at the wrong time,” said the Clooneys in a statement.

“Thousands of young Syrian refugees are at risk - the risk of never being a productive part of society. Formal education can help change that.”

The couple welcomed twins Ella and Alexander into the world back in June, announcing the news through their spokesperson.

“This morning Amal and George welcomed Ella and Alexander Clooney into their lives. Ella, Alexander and Amal are all healthy, happy and doing fine,” they said. “George is sedated and should recover in a few days.”

The couple, who have been married since 2014, confirmed that they were expecting their first children back in February after months of speculation.
