Ed Balls made his Loose Women panellists blush when he dropped an X-rated gaffe on live TV.

The former Shadow Chancellor – who was on the show with his former Strictly Come Dancing co-star Judge Rinder as part of a special men’s edition – let slip the remark as he showed off the results of his makeover.

Balls walked into the studio sporting new clothes and darker hair before modelling in front of Andrea McLean and Nadia Sawalha.

Talking about his new look he said: “I've had it all, hair, make up, fluffer – the lot!”

A fluffer refers to someone in the porn industry whose job it is to keep male performers aroused during takes.

The audience and panel burst out laughing before McLean explained: “Can I say technically he hasn't actually had that.”

Sawalha quickly moved on the conversation by asking Balls about his boots.

He later panicked McLean again when he joked about taking his clothes off.

After McLean suggested he “goes back into work mode” to discuss the next topic he replied: “Shall I take my clothes off and put my normal ones back on again?”

A shocked McLean said: “I really wondered what you were going to say then! We're not that kind of loose!”

Viewers were impressed by Balls’ makeover, with one calling him a "stud muffin".

Others praised his appearance with Rinder, with one viewer branding it “superb television”.

The official Loose Women Twitter account posted: “We might set up a fan club for Ed Balls and Judge Rinder after today. So glad all you lovely viewers enjoyed it - thanks for your support.”
