Injured TV chef Gordon Ramsay is being helped in his recovery by friend David Beckham.

Beckham is reportedly coaching the restaurateur over the best ways to overcome an Achilles tendon injury.

Beckham, 41, famously suffered the same injury in 2010 when it kept him out of that summer’s World Cup.

“David has already been on the phone talking through with Gordon the dos and don’ts of coming back quickly,” a source told the New York Daily News.

“He has vowed to help him get back playing football before the end of the year. They have made a vow to be running together when they spend Christmas together.”

Ramsay, 49, a former apprentice footballer with Glasgow Rangers, had surgery last month after collapsing while running in his garden with his teenage son and had to withdraw from the Soccer Aid fund-raiser for children’s charity Unicef UK.

Three years ago, Beckham helped Los Angeles Lakers basketball star Kobe Bryant recover early from an Achilles rupture by giving him tips to stay in shape and he is said to be offering similar keep-fit advice to Ramsay.

“Gordon has told people that he has become hooked on exercise as he realised how his chef’s career meant he was piling on the pounds,” said the source. “Now he is worried that he may see his weight swell up again and be less active.”
