As he gears up for his final turn as 007, Daniel Craig is celebrating another milestone in his life as he turns 50.

The Chester-born star is best known for his role as James Bond – taking over as the famous MI5 spy in 2006 in films including Casino Royale and Spectre.

Craig is set to appear in his final Bond movie in 2019, with his successor yet to be announced, and has overtaken Pierce Brosnan to become the second-longest serving spy.

The successful star, who is married to Rachel Weisz, has also starred in Steven Spielberg movie Munich, a film documenting the events of the 1972 Summer Olympics and the aftermath.

One of his most recent film roles was as Joe Bang in 2017 hit Logan Lucky.

Craig married actress Weisz in 2011, just six months after they met on the set of Dream House, with Weisz recently opening up about their personal life.

Speaking in an interview with ES Magazine, she described their marriage as not “particularly exceptional” but added that she “wears her ring with pride”.

Weisz has also said that she's keen for Bond to continue to be played by a male actor after Craig’s departure.

The About A Boy actress told The Telegraph: “[Fleming] devoted an awful lot of time to writing this particular character, who is particularly male and relates in a particular way to women.

“Why not create your own story rather than jumping on to the shoulders and being compared to all those other male predecessors?”

The 47-year-old added: “Women are really fascinating and interesting and should get their own stories.”
