Comedian Al Murray will donate all the profits from this weekend’s gigs to help those affected by the Grenfell Tower fire.

The British stand-up has said that proceeds from his Friday and Saturday night performances at the Underbelly Festival on the Southbank will be in aid of the victims of the tragic blaze.

Murray went on to say that the Underbelly comedy festival organisers will match the contribution up to £10,000.

“All profits from my Pub Landlord's Summer Saloon shows this Friday and Saturday at the Underbelly Southbank will be donated to the people affected by the Grenfell Tower fire,” he tweeted on Thursday.

“Underbelly will also be matching the contribution up to £10,000.”

Fans were quick to praise the gesture on Twitter, with one person writing: “Have a great couple of nights and thank you for your genuine concern and generosity.”

A host of stars have shown their support for the victims of the West London fire in the aftermath of Wednesday morning’s tragedy.

Lily Allen, Adele and Rita Ora all attended the scene following the blaze, helping to comfort victims and help sort donations.

Music mogul Simon Cowell has announced plans for a charity single to raise funds for those affected.

“We will record it hopefully and finish it Sunday, latest Monday. We already started to get a lot of people calling in saying, ‘of course we would love to do it,’” he said on Friday’s Good Morning Britain.

“People who can’t make it physically to the studio, we can record their vocals wherever they are in the world.”
