Chris Hughes has insisted that ex-girlfriend Olivia Attwood will always be his “best friend” despite the breakdown of their relationship.

The reality TV star met Attwood on Love Island in July – but the pair called time on their relationship last month.

Setting the record straight, Hughes slammed reports that they are not on good terms.

He tweeted: “We met for lunch the other day, and she’ll always be my best friend, regardless of what’s written about us, so this isn’t fair.”

Hughes’ tweet came amid reports claiming their upcoming reality TV series, Crackin' On, had been ‘thrown into chaos’ in the wake of their break up.

A source told The Sun: “ITV originally wanted them to promote the show together, but since the split and everything that’s happened since, it’s just not going to happen.

“They’re still talking but they don’t want to be in the same room and speaking about their relationship to promote the show, because they’ll just get into a row.”

Attwood recently revealed that they filmed their split for their ITV show, despite the fact she wanted to keep it a private affair.

Speaking on Loose Women in her first interview since the couple split, he said: “I’m not going to be able to watch it. It was horrendous. I wanted to wait until the cameras had gone and speak to Chris on his own.

“I can’t believe that that moment has been captured. Chris has said to me he wasn’t happy about doing it but he felt we had to. But I felt we could have followed the reality without having that raw moment.”

Following their break-up Attwood also confirmed Hughes did send flirty messages to Katie Price, despite him vehemently denying doing so on multiple occasions.

“I chose to stand by him at that time. I had known him for two months, how am I to know what he was doing?

“All I know is that whether he did or he didn’t, he didn’t sleep with her, it was just a couple of messages.”
