Chloe Moretz couldn’t stop smiling as she hit the capital to promote her latest film, The Miseducation of Cameron Post.

Moretz, 21, plays the titular character – a teenager who is sent away to a treatment centre in a remote area called God’s Promise to undergo gay conversion therapy.

The US actress worked a printed dress as she posed for photographers at a gala screening at Picturehouse Central on Wednesday night.

She was joined by director Desiree Akhavan who opted for an all-black ensemble.

Moretz has been in London to promote the film and last night made an appearance on The One Show, telling hosts Matt Baker and Alex Jones that the script “struck me in a personal way because I have two gay brothers in my family”.

She said the film’s power lies in its ability to focus on the comedic elements of controversial issues.

“What’s beautiful about it doesn’t focus on the obstacles, it focuses on the silver linings and finds the comedic moments in the hypocrisy of it all,” she said.

“The beauty of this is that is shows that there are people out there who will see you for who you are, and they will love and accept you unconditionally.

“I think it’s a very rare thing to see in film currently, especially under the administration we’re under in America, it’s probably one of the most important forms of activism that we can do is push this film out for the masses.”

The film premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in January where it won the Grand Jury Prize for US Drama – the festival’s highest honour.

The Miseducation of Cameron Post is slated for UK cinema release on September 7
