Charlize Theron commanded attention as she stepped out for the premiere for her new film Long Shot.

The Tully actress oozed authority as she hit the red carpet at Mayfair’s Curzon cinemas for the UK showcase of the rom-com.

Theron, who plays a woman hopeful of becoming president, opted for a floor-length gown made up of a black peplum top with a keyhole cut-out across the chest and a fuchsia pink mermaid-style skirt.

Looking every bit powerful, she tied the look together with a slicked back bun, a natural make-up base, and a strong red lip.

Theron was joined on the carpet by co-star Seth Rogen, who opted for a sharp pastel-pink suit and matching tie.

The pair looked in good spirits as they linked arms whilst posing for photos together.

Film director Jonathan Levine also turned out in support of the duo as he attended the special screening.

Speaking at the red carpet premiere, Theron told how learning about politics through the film made her realise she would be a “terrible” president.

She said: “We got to spend a lot of time with speechwriters for former secretaries of state and presidents.

"You realise that there's so much compromise in the world of politics, it's soul-sucking, this is why I would be terrible."

In the film Rogen plays Fred, a free-spirited journalist who is prone to getting in trouble for his bold views whilst Theron takes on the role of powerful politician Charlotte.

The pair cross paths unexpectedly at an event and Charlotte takes a liking to Fred, who she later realises she used to babysit.

In a turn of events Charlotte decides to run for presidency, impulsively hiring Fred as her speechwriter, which sparks an unsuspecting romance between the duo.
