Channing Tatum has wished his ex-wife Jenna Dewan a happy Mother’s Day despite their marriage split.

Taking to social media on Sunday evening, the 38-year-old actor gave a shout-out to his former partner in a heartfelt video.

Addressing the mother of his four-year-old daughter, Everly, Tatum said: “Happy Mother's Day everybody. Jenna, Happy Mother's Day, baby.

“Momma, Happy Mother's Day. Love you guys.”

The news comes after the couple chose to “lovingly separate” after nine years of marriage.

The couple, who met on the set of Step Up in 2006 shocked fans in April after they confirm their plans to divorce in a joint Instagram post on Monday night, saying that their love had taken them “on different paths”.

Insisting that there are “no secrets nor salacious event” behind their decision to split, the former couple said that they would still be a “family” for the sake of their daughter.

“Hey world! So... We have something we would like to share,” the statement started.

“First off, it feels odd that we have to share this kind of thing with everyone, but it’s a consequence of the lives we’ve chosen to lead, which we also happen to be deeply grateful for.

“We’re living in an incredible moment in time, but it’s also a time where truth can easily get distorted into 'alternative facts' so we want to share the truth so you know that if you didn’t read it here then it’s most.”

It continued: “We have lovingly chosen to separate as a couple.

"We fell deeply in love so many years ago and have had a magical journey together.

"Absolutely nothing has changed about how much we love one another, but love is a beautiful adventure that is taking us on different paths for now.”
