Big Brother housemate Jayne Connery required medical attention after a task went wrong on Thursday night’s episode - but viewers were sceptical of her accident.

Paramedics were called after Jackson Blyton hit Connery with a wet sponge while she attempted to cross the swimming pool on a makeshift bridge.

Jayne fell into the pool and appeared to not be moving.

Hughie Maughan shouted, "She's been knocked out!" and Blyton screamed “medic” as the group clambered to get help – but viewers were less concerned and accused the former glamour model of faking the severity of the accident.

Some were quick to compare her to Gillian McKeith who famously fainted during a stint on I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here.

Others refuted claims that she was knocked out and accused her of keeping herself afloat by moving her arms.

Other viewers questioned how she could be injured by a wet sponge while wearing a helmet and called for her to win an Academy Award.

Some also questioned her claim that the sponge hit her head with one viewer tweeting: "The awks moment when Jayne says it hit her throat... but it hit the helmet."

Jayne was taken to hospital as a precaution and Big Brother explained to worried housemates that she was “fine and receiving expert medical attention off-site.”

She later returned to the house and confirmed to Big Brother in the diary room that she was “feeling good.”

Housemates Jason Burrill and Alex Cannon later made light of the accident by drawing a face on a sponge and decorating it with a blonde wig before placing it in Jackson's bed.

Jayne was set to face eviction on tonight's episode but was saved by fellow housemate Sam Giffen during a twist which saw him choose to make Andy West face the public vote instead.
