US power couple Beyonce and Jay-Z celebrated their 10th wedding anniversary today. The musical duo have overcome elevator incidents and Becky with the good hair since first meeting in 1999.

Beyonce previously revealed they were “friends first for a year and a half before we went on any dates,” with Jay-Z admitting he had to “dazzle... wine and dine.”

Fast forward 19 years and the superstar pairing are still going strong with daughter Blue Ivy and twins Rumi and Sir together.

So to mark their milestone wedding anniversary here's a look back on their relationship ups and downs:

2008

Beyonce, full name Beyonce Giselle Knowles, tied the knot with Shawn Corey Carter, better known as Jay-Z. The American rapper put a ring on it after years of speculation on the couple’s relationship status. Beyonce revealed she was a married woman at a listening party for her third studio album, I am…Sasha Fierce.

2009

The couple attended President Obama’s first inauguration where Beyonce performed America the Beautiful and Etta James’ At Last for the President’s first dance with First Lady Michelle Obama. Unbeknownst to them, four years later the duo would perform at Obama’s second inauguration.

2010 & 2011

The Single Ladies hit-maker announced her career hiatus in 2010, which also saw her professionally split from her father who had been acting as her manager.

She landed back on the scene in 2011 with her fourth studio album, 4, which included mass hits Love on Top and Run the World (Girls).

A dramatic reveal performance of Love on Top saw her confirm her pregnancy at the 2011 VMAs where she ended the show-stopping song by cradling her baby bump.

2012

Blue Ivy is born on January 7, but despite just two days later Jay-Z shocked fans by releasing Glory in which he revealed they had suffered a miscarriage prior to their daughter’s birth.

Blue Ivy Carter’s cries were sampled at the end of the song, making her the youngest person ever to appear on the Billboard chart, when the song debuted at number 74.

2013

Beyonce headed across the ocean on her Mrs Carter Show World Tour which featured appearances from her other half.

The year also saw the singer release her fifth studio album, revolutionising the art of a “dropping” an album without prior notice or promotion. The album featured a collaboration between the couple with soon-to-be Grammy-winning song Drunk in Love which peaked at number 2 on the Billboard Hot 100.

2014

The infamous elevator incident took place and left the Internet in meltdown after CCTV footage of Beyonce’s sister Solange physically assaulting and lunging at her brother-in-law Jay-Z was shared.

The footage sparked infidelity rumours on Jay-Z’s part, with the family simply putting out a statement at the time saying they had “worked through it”.

2014 also saw the musical couple embark on their 21-stop On the Run Tour.

2016

The Queen of pop released Lemonade alongside a 65-minute film of the same name. The album touched on her marital struggles, infidelity and issues of race and equality. The soon-to-be iconic line ‘Becky with the good hair’ and ‘He only want me when I’m not there’ sparked further controversy as to Jay-Z’s faithfulness.

2017

Beyonce announced that the Carter family was expanding with two new additions.

Posting the announcement on Instagram she wrote: “We would like to share our love and happiness. We have been blessed two times over.

"We are incredibly grateful that our family will be growing by two, and we thank you for your well wishes.”

Carter also released his 13th studio album which finally addressed the infidelity accusations and the elevator brawl. Much like Lemonade it served a message of hope for the couple.

The music video for Family Feud was released shortly after with a star-studded line-up making appearances throughout including Michael B Jordan and Carter’s daughter being portrayed as the future president.

2018

The couple appear united in duet Top Off alongside their global tour announcement for the On the Run Tour part two. The tour is set to kick off in June and will hit 15 cities across the UK and Europe.
