Ariana Grande fought back tears as she accepted the Billboard Women of the Year award.

The No Tears Left to Cry singer poured her heart out as she reflected on the past year, admitting it has been the “best year for my career and worst year of my life”, following the death of ex-boyfriend Mac Miller and her recent split from SNL star Pete Davidson.

Becoming teary-eyed after receiving a standing ovation, she said: “This is really special. I want to say that I find it interesting that this has been one of the best years in my career and one of like the worst years in my life.

“I'm just saying that because I feel like a lot of people would look at someone in my position right now I guess - Woman of the Year, an artist that could be at her peak and think, ‘She's really got her s*** together, she's really on it, she has got it all.’

“I do, but as far as my personal life goes I really have no idea what the f*** I am doing. So yeah, it's been a very conflicting one.”

Grande also stressed to her fans that they are not alone, saying: “I just want to say if you're someone out there who has no idea what this next chapter is going to bring, you're not alone in that.”

She also went on to highlight that she hopes to give herself the same forgiveness she has “frivolously given to men in the past.”

“I have everything I’ve ever dreamt of having and as of late I’ve discovered it’s the things I’ve always had and the people I’ve always had that still make me the happiest so thank you so much. This is really cool”, she told the audience.

The award comes after Grande told how she is “60 per cent champagne” after admitting she has been drinking more than ever before.

She told Billboard: “I don’t think I’ve ever consumed more alcohol than I have in the past month. I am champagne.

“You know how people say we're 60 percent water? I'm 60 percent pink Veuve Clicquot.”
