Amber Heard appeared to channel a creature from the deep as she hopped on land for the world premiere of Aquaman with Jason Momoa.

The American actress, 32, made sure to dress in keeping with the film’s theme in a swimming-cap inspired head piece to match her emerald green gown.

Heard, who plays Mera in the upcoming hit, looked stunning in the elegant number which featured a plunging neckline and a flowing train.

She was joined by Aquaman himself, Momoa, who swapped the sea for the blue carpet in London’s Leicester Square.

The Game of Thrones actor told fans he is so excited to see the film, but that he has promised to watch the DC comic venture in full with his “babies”.

“I have seen about as much as everyone else here,” he told host Alex Zane. “I’m waiting to see it with my babies. My kids were so stoked by the trailer so I’m going to wait to see it with them so I can hold their hands.”

Momoa has waited five years for Aquaman to receive a standalone film having made appearances in 2016’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and 2017’s Justice League.

Aquaman follows the origin story of half-human, half-Atlantean Arthur Curry as he gets caught between the surface world and Atlantis, where the residents are planning to revolt.

Directed by James Wan, the film also stars Nicole Kidman as Queen Atlanta, Willem Dafoe as Nuidis Vulko and Patrick Wilson as King Orm, who was also at Monday night's premiere.

Acting royalty Julie Andrews provides the voice of Karathen – the “most powerful creature on Earth”.

The premiere attracted a host of famous faces including Clara Amfo, Talia Storm and Love Island 2018 stars Samira Mighty and Laura Crane.

Aquaman is slated for UK cinema release on December 12
