Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly have missed out on being nominated for a Royal Television Society Programme Award for the first time in nine years.

The presenting partners had received consecutive nominations at the industry event since 2010, but failed to pick up any nods ahead of this year’s ceremony.

The pair have previously won the RTS Best Entertainment Performance award five times.

Their shows Saturday Night Takeaway, SMTV Live and The Ant and Dec Show have also won in the Entertainment and Best Children’s Entertainment Programme categories respectively.

McPartlin has recently returned from an extended break from the public eye, which followed a drink driving incident last March and a stint in rehab.

The duo received the Best Presenter gong at the National Television Awards in January, despite McPartlin’s 10-month absence from the small screen.

Accepting the trophy via a video link from the Britain’s Got Talent auditions, he described the win as “a genuine shock especially this year,” and said that Donnelly deserved full credit, telling viewers: “The reason we have one is this guy. The best mate. I love you man.”

Their success marked the pair's 18th consecutive Best Presenter win, earning them a Guinness World Record.

This year’s RTS Awards Entertainment Performance category will see Michael McIntyre go up against The Voice judge Jennifer Hudson and Big Narstie and Mo Gilligan, nominated for Channel 4’s The Big Narstie Show.

Hit BBC thriller Killing Eve tops the nominations, with stars Jodie Comer and Sandra Oh both recognised in the Best Female Actor category. The show will also go up against Peaky Blinders and Save Me for Best Drama Series.

The winners will be announced at a ceremony on March 19.
