INSIDE THE ATOM

Einstein is being celebrated throughout 2005 at the Science Museum (it's the centenary of the publication of his Nobel prizewinning paper) and this new display on the second floor shows off some of the experimental physics apparatus used in the discovery of the atom.

It also focuses on less well known heroes in the field by displaying the Nobel Prize medals awarded to J.J. Thomson and his son G.P. Thomson for their work on electrons.

Science Museum, Exhibition Road, SW7 (0870 870 4868). 10am-6pm, free.
