The father of Britney Spears has reportedly been hospitalised with a severe infection.

Reports suggest that Jamie Spears, 71,  is undergoing treatment for the infection and various other health issues.

A source told Page Six spears is “severely ill”.

“Jamie has been suffering with a bad infection that has required surgery," a source said.

“He has been hospitalised for weeks in a special infectious disease facility.”

Various outlets are reporting that Jamie Spears has not had the best run with his health of late, and was recently in hospital due to complications related to a knee replacement he received in the mid-2000s.

According to reports, those issues have persisted and led to this serious infection.

The father and daughter are not thought to be on speaking terms since the end of the family’s 13-year conservatorship which came to an end in 2021.

The singer has previously claimed her father was “abusive” towards her and in a social media post last year she told her father to “burn in hell”.

Page Six reported earlier this year that – while Britney, 41, is attempting to work through various personal issues – “reconciliation with Jamie is not on the cards”.

It comes after the singer’s estranged husband Sam Asghari called out Donald Trump Jr. for mocking his former wife online.

On Tuesday, Trump Jr. posted a meme intended to comment on the media’s coverage of recent police shootings, which featured contrasting photos of Spears from the 1990s with one of her handling knives from a recent Instagram post.

Above the photo of her from yesteryear, it read: “The photo they use in the newspaper” in juxtaposition to the image of her now holding knives which read, “What your body camera saw.”

On Wednesday, Asghari, 29, took to Instagram to respond to Trump Jr.’s pointed social media activity.

According to Just Jared, the model said in a now expired Instagram Story: “Hey, little Trump.

“You won’t stop bullying so I’m here to tell you that being a bully doesn’t make you cool nor [does] it makes you friends – and it certainly doesn’t require intelligence to be one.”

He continued: “I can be a bully, too – I can say, ‘The best is yet to come.’ But I won’t do that. I won’t do that. Because it’s just mean being a bully, and like I said it doesn’t make you cool.

“So, don’t be a bully Jr., don’t be one.”
