Football legend George Best was attacked in his favourite drinking haunt last night.

The former Manchester United star, 58, was enjoying a wine and lemonade in The Royal Anchor, Liphook, Hampshire, when a man punched him in the face.

'George was talking on his mobile when this guy walked up and took a swing at him,' said a customer.

'It was a vicious punch in the face and drew blood. As he left George was very groggy and was having difficulty keeping his feet.'
