Aaron Carter’s twin sister Angel has broken her silence following the embattled star’s death on Saturday (November 5), aged 34.

The 34-year-old paid a moving tribute to her late brother on Instagram by sharing several family photos and writing that she “promised to cherish” the memories they had.

Writing alongside the post, she penned: “To my twin… I loved you beyond measure.

“You will be missed dearly. My funny, sweet Aaron, I have so many memories of you... and I promise to cherish them.

“I know you’re at peace now. I will carry you with me until the day I die and get to see you again.”

The siblings had a tumultuous relationship over the years before his death, with Angel filing a restraining order against him in 2019 alongside brother Nick, 42.

At the time, Backstreet Boys star Nick said in a statement that Aaron allegedly harboured “intentions of killing my wife and unborn child”.

He wrote: “After careful consideration, my sister Angel and I regret that we were required to seek a restraining order against our brother Aaron today.

“We were left with no choice, but to take every measure possible to protect ourselves and our family.”

The Larger Than Life hitmaker added that he still loved Aaron and hoped he would get “the proper treatment he needs before any harm comes to himself or anyone else”.

Months later, a Los Angeles court extended the domestic-violence restraining order Angel filed against Aaron through 2020.

The order issued in November 2019 said that Aaron wasn’t allowed to come within 100 yards of Angel and her husband Corey Conrad, as well as their place of business and their home.

She had previously claimed in court documents that Aaron had “threatened the lives” of her, her husband, and daughter Harper during a phone call.

Carter released four solo albums as a child, his 1997 self-titled debut selling more than one million copies worldwide. His fame led him to open for his brother’s boyband, Backstreet Boys, that same year. Three more LPs followed, including Aaron’s Party (Come Get It) - which sold three million units in the US alone in 2000.

His later career included releases of an EP and several compilations as well as an appearance on the US reality show Dancing with the Stars. All the while, his personal life was beset with problems as well as high-profile feuds with members of his family.

Carter had a history of drug offences and went to rehab on a number of occasions as his career progressed. He transitioned from pop into rap music and procured a number of face tattoos as he distanced himself from his child-star image.

In later years, his feuds with Nick became more intense - and he reportedly accused his older brother of putting him under a conservatorship scheme, similar to the one Britney Spears famously battled against.

Mr Carter leaves behind his son Prince, who was born in 2021.
