Taylor made for Warriors

Scott Taylor has joined Wigan

Wigan have announced the capture of prop Scott Taylor from Hull KR on a two-year deal.

The Robins were resigned to losing their promising forward after he rejected the offer of extending his contract at Craven Park last month.

But the fact he still had nearly two years remaining on his deal meant Hull KR could hold out for the highest bidder, and Wigan announced they had agreed a "substantial settlement fee" to bring the 21-year-old across the Pennines.

"I am really pleased to have secured the services of a talented British front-rower like Scott. He already has a good skill set, but the coaching staff at this club will improve him and take him to another level," said Wigan head coach Shaun Wane.

"He is big, athletic and skilful, perfect for what I want as a middle player. He will thrive in our environment and will be a great asset to the club going forward."

Taylor had also been linked with Hull FC but will now link up with former Robins team-mate Blake Green, who joined Wigan despite having two years left on his contract in a deal thought to be worth £100,000.

"I'm over the moon a team like Wigan has come in for me, they are one of the best teams in the world and this is a massive opportunity for me," Taylor said.

"I can't wait to meet all my new team-mates and staff at the start of pre-season. I'm still in shock that I've signed for Wigan, it's a dream come true for me."
