Ryan named Fiji Sevens head coach
Former England Rugby Sevens head coach Ben Ryan has been appointed Fiji Sevens boss until the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.
The Fiji Rugby Union (FRU) made the announcement on Thursday and it comes after Ryan left his position with England last month after six years in the role.
A statement on fijirugby.com said: "The Fiji Rugby Union has announced the appointment of Ben Ryan as the new Digicel Fiji 7s Head Coach.
"Ryan accepted the offer after the FRU board contacted him last night.
"There will be a transition period of one month in England for Ryan and he is expected to be in the country for the Fiji Water Centennial International 7s next month. Ryan will also take the team for the first leg of the 2013/2014 IRB World 7s Series at the Gold Coast in Australia.
"During his appointment Ryan will be required to develop local coaches and the game in the 7s code throughout the country.
"His appointment is for three years and will be till the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio."
Ryan led England Sevens at 56 HSBC Sevens World Series tournaments and won five titles at Wellington (2008, 2013), Dubai (2010, 2011) and London (2008).
During his time in charge, England made the semi-finals or better on 28 occasions.
