Groves makes Froch dig

George Groves has fired a well-aimed barb at domestic rival Carl Froch by insisting the Nottingham man has no right to call himself the best super-middleweight in the world.

Froch puts his WBA and IBF 12-stone titles on the line in an eagerly-awaited all-British clash against Londoner Groves in Manchester on Saturday.

And despite going into the bout as a big underdog, Groves is bullish about his chances - primarily because he does not believe Froch is as good as he says he is.

Speaking after a public workout in Shepherd's Bush on Tuesday, Groves said: "Why shouldn't I be ready for a fight against the second best super-middleweight in the world?

"We're not talking about me fighting Andre Ward, the number one. I know I'm still a little way off beating Ward, but Froch is a different story all together.

"He isn't the best in the world and never has been. Do I think I can beat him with 19 fights under my belt? Absolutely."

Also on the bill Scott Quigg defends his WBA super-bantamweight title against Diego Silva, while Martin Murray returns after his controversial world middleweight title loss to Sergio Martinez in April.
