Froome seeks back-to-back Tour wins

Chris Froome has confirmed he will seek to eclipse fellow Briton Sir Bradley Wiggins by claiming a second consecutive Tour de France title next year.

But Froome insists he has no issue with his former Team Sky team-mate, whom he succeeded as winner of the world's most prestigious cycle race in 2013.

Froome's win ensured his place on the 10-strong shortlist for this year's BBC Sports Personality of the Year Award, where he will look to become the third cycling winner in a row after Wiggins and Mark Cavendish.

The 28-year-old told Thursday's edition of the Radio Times: "I don't feel I'm in Bradley's shadow at all. We're very different people. We come from different backgrounds. We're different athletes. We have different goals. I'm never going to be the first Brit to win the Tour, but I'm happy to be the second and achieve my lifetime goal.

"My number one goal is to try to achieve a back-to-back (Tour) victory. I just have to get myself back in shape again and find some kind of form. If I can do that, then I stand a pretty good chance of taking it on again."
