Josh Charnley scored a hat-trick as Wigan moved to the top of Stobart Super League with a 36-22 victory over Hull KR.

Charnley crossed twice in a decisive initial burst that saw the Warriors race into a 26-0 lead just before the half-hour.

During that spell referee Chris Bentham left the field, following a collision with full-back Shannon McDonnell, on a stretcher with a suspected broken leg.

After a lengthy delay Wigan set about sealing the result, with Charnley completing his hat-trick shortly after half-time.

And although the Robins put up a better fight after the break with scores from McDonnell, Josh Hodgson and Kris Welham the Warriors never looked in any real danger of losing the game.

St Helens brushed aside Wakefield with an eight-try show to notch their third Super League win in a row.

Chris Flannery swept over for a hat-trick and Sol Soliola crossed twice as Saints warmed up for Saturday's Carnegie Cup quarter-final at Wigan with an emphatic 38-12 victory.

Wakefield trailed 22-6 at half-time with James Roby scoring a memorable long-range try for Saints in the second half.
