Briscoe nets Hull KR role

Former England full-back Shaun Briscoe is to return to Hull KR after being appointed to their backroom staff.

Briscoe, who played 100 games for Rovers between 2008 and 2011 and retired as a player at the end of the 2013 season, will work closely with Hull KR head of youth Pete Grayburn as partnership liaison officer to develop and improve the club's youth system and also take on the role of Under-19s assistant coach.

"I was thrilled to be offered this role and I'm really looking forward to getting stuck into the next period of my career," Briscoe said.

"Rugby League is in my blood and it's great that I will have the chance to stay in the game I love."

Meanwhile, Hull KR are thought to have lined up two players from Papua New Guinea's World Cup squad who are currently based in the city.

Prop forward Enoch Maki and second row or centre Francis Paniu are set to follow in the footsteps of former Kumuls favourite Stanley Gene, who set up home in Hull after the 1995 World Cup.
