A YouTube star who tricked a homeless man into eating an Oreo filled with toothpaste has been handed a 15-month jail sentence and banned from social media for five years.
Kanghua Ren, known as ReSet to his followers, must also pay 20,000 euros in compensation after the cruel incident in Barcelona in 2017.
Mr Ren, 21, filmed himself replacing the filling of the cookies with toothpaste for a prank, before giving it to homeless Romanian man Gheorge L along with a 20 euro note.
The 52-year-old was sick minutes after eating the biscuit.
El Pais reported that the judge said the video was "a clear and unambiguous act of humiliating content" and that it caused a "physical suffering" to the victim.
Court documents seen by the newspaper said the YouTuber earnt 2,000 euros in advertising revenue from the video.
Judge Rosa Aragonés added that "it was not an isolated act," commenting that in other videos Mr Ren had also showed "cruel behaviour" and always with "easy or vulnerable victims".
Other pranks he filmed included giving cat poo sandwiches to elderly people and children in a park.
However, it is unlikely that Mr Ren will serve any prison time because of Spain’s lenient first-time offender laws.
