Space X will attempt to blast a satellite into space this afternoon and stream the take-off live.

The United State Air Force's first Global Positioning System III has been scheduled to leave Florida at around 2.20pm, by the space company run by Elon Musk.

The satellite will be deployed to medium Earth orbit, the region higher than 1,243 miles above sea level but below 22,236 miles above sea level, approximately 1 hour and 56 minutes after liftoff.

This is the most common area for satellites to be deployed into.

It is stationed at Space Launch Complex 40 (SLC-40) at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station.

UPDATE: today's launch has been called off. The next launch window is tomorrow at 14:07 UTC.
