Police are investigating claims death threats were made against wrestling legend Hulk Hogan.

The 61-year-old star, whose real name is Terry Bollea, was allegedly threatened by his former wrestling ally Scott Steiner, TMZ reported.

Bollea is reported to have received a call from his wife, Jennifer McDaniel, saying she was accosted by Steiner at an airport in California on March 26, just as Bollea's plane was about to land.

Steiner is alleged to have said he would "kill" the creator of Hulkamania when he reached the airport arrivals area.

Hogan, who had been travelling to San Jose for the Wrestlemania event, is subsequently reported to have filed a police complaint against Steiner when he reached the city.

Steiner is now being investigated for "felony terrorist threats" and CCTV footage of the alleged incident has been seized, TMZ reported.

Responding to the allegations against him, Steiner told TMZ: "Typical Hogan. He's just a punk."
