Donald Trump mocks Joe Biden at Iowa campaign rally with bizarre impression

Donald Trump did a bizarre impression of Joe Biden at a campaign rally in Iowa, as he mocked the idea of his White House rival trying to make a decision.

Speaking during his rally in Des Moines, the US president held his arms tightly against his body while twitching his shoulder upwards, appearing as if he was stopping himself from raising his hand.

The crowd erupted into laughter as Mr Trump said: “Everyone else raised their hands… and Joe you could see, because for 47 years he’s had the itch… he knows this isn’t going to work."

The president pointed to his brain and said: "You know there is still something left, not much."

He then jerked his hand upwards and made a strained face.

The impression echoed Mr Trump's mocking of disabled New York Times journalist Serge Kovaleski during a campaign speech in 2015.

The president denied mocking Mr Kovaleski at the time and claimed he was simply misunderstood after flailing his arms and distorting his speech in an imitation of the reporter.

During the rally on Wednesday night, Mr Trump said "corona means Italy" to him, before calling it the "China virus".

The president used his son's "mild" bout of the virus as a reason why American schools should reopen as soon as possible.

"Barron Trump, you know he had the corona 19, the China virus," Mr Trump told the crowd.

"It's got 20 different names, but to me corona means Italy. China is China, and it came from China so he had the China virus, right?

"And he had it for such a short period of time, I don't even think he knew he had it.

"Because they're young and their immune systems are strong and they fight it off."

He added: "Barron is just fine. It happens. People have it and it goes. Get the kids back to school. We've got to get the kids back to school."

Mr Trump will be in North Carolina and Florida on Thursday, and on Friday he will campaign in Florida and Georgia.

He will also be speaking in Michigan and Wisconsin on Saturday.

The states were won by Mr Trump in 2016 but are in danger of going to Mr Biden this year, potentially denying the president a second term.
