Nail-biting moment plane forced to make emergency landing without wheels

Video footage has captured the scary moment a plane was forced to make an emergency landing without wheels.

Sparks flew and smoke billowed from the plane as it skidded down the runway at Sarasota-Bradenton International Airport.

Fire crew were stationed nearby and passengers were rushed to safety off the plane.

No one is believed to have been injured in the incident.

The wheel of the small plane had fallen off mid-air as it travelled from Belize to Florida, and airport spokesman said.

The pilot notified the control tower about a possible problem concerning a missing wheel and circled the airport to dump fuel before the nail-biting landing.
