Fox assembles huge sandwich from scraps of bread and meat thrown by humans

Tasty snack: the fox began to pile more slices of bread on top of the creation to create a five-decker sandwich

A fox has been filmed constructing a huge sandwich out of bread and meat fed to it by a radio crew.

The video was captured in the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone in Ukraine by a group of journalists from Radio Free Europe making a programme about animals.

As they were filming the group were greeted by a malnourished fox who appeared to be begging for food.

The radio crew threw some scraps of meat onto the floor, followed by some slices of bread.

At first the creature began to chomp down on the meat, not fazed by the nearby humans.

But then instead of continuing to wolf down the snack it began to make a sandwich.

The fox used its paw to hold down a slice of bread and pile meat on top of it, before adding more pieces of bread while holding it together in its mouth.

It then scuttled away, clamping the five-decker sandwich in its jaws.

The Chernobyl Exclusion Zone was created after a nuclear power plant exploded, sparking the largest nuclear disaster in history.

The 30 km zone was set up as the designated evacuation area.

Despite the lack of humans living in the zone there are reports the number of foxes, bears and wolves are increasing.
