Rudy Giuliani’s son Andrew Giuliani has tested positive for coronavirus, hours after the president’s lawyer led a heated news conference in Washington.

The 34-year-old White House aide confirmed that he tested positive for Covid-19 on Twitter.

“I am experiencing mild symptoms, and am following all appropriate protocols, including being in quarantine and conducting contact tracing,” said Andrew Giuliani.

It comes after Donald Trump’s personal attorney, Rudy Giuliani and others had held a press conference to allege a widespread Democratic election conspiracy involving multiple states and suspect voting machines.

Many were distracted by the sight of what appeared to be hair dye streaming down Mr Giuliani’s face as he delivered a rambling monologue at the Republican National Committee headquarters on Thursday.

As he sweated in front of journalist, Mr Giuliani mopped his brow with a handkerchief, but he appeared to failed to realise that dark brown streaks - believed to be either make-up or hair dye - had remained on his face.

Jokes and ridicule spread across social media after what was only the latest in a series of embarrassing events for New York City’s former mayor.

Election officials across the country have said repeatedly there was no widespread fraud.

Many of the allegations of fraud stem from poll watchers who filed affidavits included with lawsuits in battleground states aimed at delaying vote certification.

Those affidavits lean into innuendo and unsupported suggestions of fraud. Poll watchers have no auditing role in elections; they are volunteer observers.

Mr Giuliani cited a few sworn affidavits that he said showed a vast Democratic conspiracy, but added that he could not reveal much of the evidence.
