A woman who lost her leg in the Alton Towers roller coaster crash has said she “doesn’t see the point in being angry” about the accident.

Vicky Balch was one of 16 injured when the Smiler ride crashed after engineers “felt pressure” to get it back working following a fault.

But she said the crash was “not anyone’s fault” and she is just pleased to be alive.

She told the Victoria Derbyshire programme: “The people on the ride were working to the best of their ability really so I am not angry and I am not cross.

“I am more annoyed because there should have been proper training put in place like there are now but they didn’t have procedures to follow.

“I think at first I was more upset like ‘why did it happen to me’, but I don’t see the point in being angry.

“It doesn’t get you anywhere and it’s not anyone’s fault. I know things could have turned out worse but it has not and I am still here.”
