A woman was stabbed to death in a "commercial premises" in south London, Scotland Yard said.

The Asian woman, in her 40s, was attacked in Mitcham, at 1.20pm on Friday.

Sources said she was stabbed at the rear of a branch of clothing chain Peacocks.

A spokesman for London Ambulance Service said: "We were called just before 1.20pm to reports of a stabbing on Upper Green East in Mitcham.

"We sent two single responders in cars, an ambulance, a duty officer and Hems, which is the air ambulance.
