Britain's Eurovision flag is flying at half mast after Scooch scored a dismal 19 points in the competition.
Despite an energetic dance routine dressed as airline cabin crew, the UK's entrant finished well down the field in 23rd place with their rendition of Flying the Flag (For You).
The four-piece outfit were trounced by Serbia's entrant Marija Šerifovic who impressed with the ballad Molitva.
The contest, which featured offerings from 24 different European nations, saw the usual round of tactical block voting.
Only two countries stood between Scooch finishing with the humiliation of scoring "nil points".
They were Ireland, who awarded seven points, and Malta, who gave the UK the maximum 12 points.
Hundreds of millions of people watched the contest live from the Helsinki (Hartwall) Arena in Finland.
Šerifovic racked up 268 points to push the bookmakers' favourite, Ukranian singer Verka Serdyuchka, into second place.
Scooch now join a host of UK entrants to fail to make an impression at the annual musical extravaganza.
Last year Daz Sampson finished 19th out of 24 entries with his rendition of Teenage Life. And in 2003, the UK crashed to an all-time low when pop duo Jemini failed to score a single point.
