The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will send their son, Prince George, to Thomas's Battersea from September, Kensington Palace announced today.

Prince William and Kate say they are "delighted" to have found a school where they are confident Prince George will have a "happy and successful start to his education."

Ben Thomas, Headmaster at Thomas's Battersea, said: "We are honoured and delighted that Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have chosen Thomas's Battersea for Prince George.

"We greatly look forward to welcoming him and all of our new pupils to the school in September."

Thomas's Battersea - which charges fees of £18,000 per year for a Day pupil - is a "busy, thriving, purposeful" school, educating 540 boys and girls between the ages of four and 13.

The school says the most important school rule is to 'Be Kind'.

It offers a "rich and broad curriculum".

Art, Ballet, Drama, ICT, French, Music and PE all taught by specialist teachers from a child’s first day in school.

The school is structured in three, three-year stages (the Lower, Middle and Upper Schools) within a framework of 'Enjoyment, Learning and Achievement', which informs a child’s journey through the school.

Children join at the age of four and leave at 11 or 13.

The school says it places a greater emphasis on a set of core values, which include kindness, courtesy, confidence, humility and learning to be givers, not takers.

The website says, "We hope that our pupils will leave this school with a strong sense of social responsibility, set on a path to become net contributors to society and to flourish as conscientious and caring citizens of the world."

Ofsted describes Prince George's new school Thomas's Battersea as "outstanding."

It says the leadership team "established a very clear vision for the school" shared by all of the school community.

It states, "The quality of teaching in all key stages over time is outstanding."
