An extremely rare supercar worth £1.5million has been badly damaged after smashing into a road barrier in west Sussex.

The blue Pagani Zonda, which has a top speed of 218mph, had the front of its chassis ripped off after the dramatic crash on the A27 near Tangmere.

Police said the “one-off” Italian car was left with “significant damage”, although the driver was not injured.

PC Peter De Silvo said: "We believe the Pagani was travelling in convey with some other super sports car from Worthing to Chichester but no other car was at scene upon police arrival.

"Thankfully the driver of the Pagani was uninjured.

"We are appealing to anyone who saw this car driving on the A27, we are hoping someone would remember as it is so distinctive."

Anyone with information is asked to contact police online quoting serial 300 of 21/10.
